Not a free toy software...

In depth approach to video conferencing for mobile platform, designed for serious mobile professionals.

How does Chaserview work and how is different from Skype which is a free software

ChaserView™ is a 2 way audio video conferencing system for mobile, hand held video conferencing using wireless networks. Fluctuating and low bandwidth coupled with low computational power of hand held devices is a major reciepes for sub standard video conferencing. Unlike mainstream video conferencing systems such as PolyCom and Skype and many more, ChaserView™ does not use the mainstream H.263 and H.264 codec which can not and will not be able to tolerate the fluctuations of wireless network, rendering a frozen image or simply displaying a frozen block of images. ChaserView™ was built with wireless network and hand held devices while transporting the data in a secure manner while maintaining a low latency experience with Inmarsat BGAN, CDMA, GPRS, GSM and HSPDA networks. The bandwidth manager built with the software allows micro managing the bandwidth unlike mainstream products such as Skype require a minimum available bandwidth. ChaserView™ can operate from 4800 baud to 1.2 mb range allowing for Audio ONLY, Sculpture video, Black and White or full Color based on available bandwidth. The ChaserView™'s codec is truly the next generation video compression. You can use a select group of Smart Phones, PDAs to conduct low latency, stable and secure video conferencing.

What kind of codec ChaserView software using?

Our software is not using the mainstream codec such as H.264. It is designed for low power CPUs and low power computing devices such as PDA, Netbooks, UMPCs and Smartphones.

What networks does ChaserView support?

Most IP based networks, wired or Wireless are supported. The codec shines when there is low bandwidth wireless network such as GSM is used.

I am using Chaserview with BGAN, can I call another ChaserView user connected to a Cell phone network such as AT&T or Sprint?

Yes. No problem. You can call from BGAN to IP address of Sprint or AT&T users or vice versa.

I do not have a static Ip address with my BGAN terminal. Can I use ChaserView?

Yes. The only limitation is that the BGAN user can not be reached over Internet but any static IP address such as Sprint, Verizon or another BGAN user with Static IP can be called from non static IP user.

Can I use the BGAN WiFi with my PDA device?

Yes. Configure your BGAN terminal (TT-100 - 500) with any router such as LinkSys or use the built in router and WiFi configurations of BGAN terminal (HNS 9201 and Thrane Explorer-700), then once the WiFi is activated, simply connect to the WiFi network (in this case BGAN WiFi) using the usual WiFi connection (See you Device WiFi setup procedures). Once the device is connected to WiFi network, then using the router's port forwarding, open the 3 ports for VIDEO, AUDIO, LISTENIING. You can now make an video/audio call to another ChaserView configured the same way. If your device is using another Internet connection such as CDMA, HSPDA (Sprint/Verizon or AT&T), you do not need to do anything. To see the ports and its associated numbers, from main screen, click on OPTIONS and make a note of 3 port's numbers and configure your router. A similar procedure is done for any router attached to Internet.

Can I get a Static IP address for BGAN terminal?

Yes. Contact your air time and network provider for BGAN SIM card. There is a monthly charge for the Satic IP address. We offer a lower monthly charge and most competitive air time rate in the industry by offering rates from Whenever Communications (www.satellitephonestore.com). You may contact us for deatils, SIM card setup and network information.

Can I get a Static IP address for CDMA (Sprint and Verizon) or AT&T?

Yes. call your cell phone provider. For example Sprint network offers a static IP address for your Data Connection cards or Activated PDA devices for a small monthly fee.

Can I use a DNS for my cell phone connection?

Yes. Try commercial products such as DNS2GO or DYNDNS. We have tested the DNS2GO and works great with our software.

How much bandwidth do I need to make a video and audio call?

You can make an audio/video call with as little as 14.4 or use the dial up, anything less, there is only audio capabilities....

I have a PDA with no Camera. I have loaded the ChaserView software. Can I use it?

Yes. You can still get video in real time from the other end. You just can not send video.

Which hand held PDA/Samrt Phone devices are supported by ChaserView?

See this link for the list of hand held devices

See this link for the list of hand held devices with 2 cameras

Whic operating systemn and which CPU core supported by ChaserView?

Microsoft Mobile OS and ARM CPU Core support is built in.

How about Microsoft Mobile 6, 6.1, 6.5 support?

We are working hard to resolve the remaining issues with the Mobile 6 and above. We will announce the Mobile 6 support in few weeks.

VZomobile® free video conferencing software

There are new roducts - VzioMobil, Skype, etc with free video conferencing softwareoffering...

Although we have remendous respect for competition, we simply suggest to download and play with the FREE products and figure it out for yourself. FREE stuff not always are the best stuff. If your mission critical application can use these free products, then you should use them. We suggest Skype, VZOmobile and other video conferencing products.

We will howevere test these in our labs and will publish an honest review of each when compared to our technology.

VZomobile® - Skype® vs ChaserView™

The above product although a good implementation of an off shelf codec using a "distributed server technology" as they describe it, does not work well in low and fluctuating situations such as low bandwidth GSM or EDGE, 1xRTT, Dialup, HSPDA - therefore renders a sub standard quality of conferencing leading to picture freez, loss of connection and inability to adapt to the newly imposed bandwidth. The off shelf codecs such as H.254 or its derivities - although can scale and compress video for Mobile platform, they are not capable of adjusting to sudden fluctuation of bandwidth as it happens with any wireless network in purticular - the shared bandwidth - such as commercial cellular networks.

Using off shelf codecs for video and audio (mostly video) will work great if you are always using a wireless broadband connection such as WiMax, 3G but even using these networks with high uplink and download speeds, if a sudden fluctuation occures, unpredictable results will occur. If your mission critical application requires a solid performer, then ChaserView™ is your only choice.

To explain the codec's role (compression and decompression of video and audio) in more detail, please see our White Paper here .
